Developing java applet for video call

Hello everybody,

I need to develop a java applet that will reside on an ASP.NET application to make video calls. For video calls I am thinking to use asterisk gateway. I'll check the asterisk documentation for it's end, but I need to know how to start on java applet side to design an interface for a video call?
